PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam generator using a heating medium advantageous in handling and cost. SOLUTION: Since the heating medium circulated in an evaporator 1 for evaporating water W on an evaporation container 1 is silicon oil 3, it is superior in heat resistance, it is liquid in a wide temperature range from a low temperature to a high temperature, and viscosity change is small. Accordingly, it is easy to handle, easy to circulate in the evaporation container 1, and advantageous in cost. Since the silicon oil 3 is easy to circulate in the evaporation container 1, a heating part 2 is formed in a middle of a circulation passage, and by heating the heating part 2 by heat H1 of sunlight L condensed by reflection mirrors 5 or by waste heat H2 of a metal melting furnace 4, the water W in the evaporation container 1 can be positively evaporated.
