PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition which satisfies both of low heat generation property and preferable workability, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition. SOLUTION: The rubber composition includes: a rubber component including a specific modified polymer which includes a conjugated diene polymer and/or a conjugated diene-aromatic vinyl copolymer; a reinforcing filler composed of carbon black by itself, or carbon black and silica; and a specific alkoxy silane compound.
