PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket for straight tube lamp by which the lighting apparatus can be made thin and power feeding connection with a ballast of the lighting apparatus is made easy, and which is superior in assembly performance. SOLUTION: This is the socket in which at least two straight tube lamps are used for a lighting apparatus arranged on a straight line and the mutually opposed bases of the straight tube lamp are connected respectively. The socket is provided with an outer shell portion 2 having apertures 3a, 3b on the front face 2a and the rear face 2b, reception hardware portions 4a, 4b which are provided respectively at each aperture 3a, 3b and in which a pair of lamp pins of the straight tube lamp are inserted, contact members 6, 7, 8, 9 which contact respectively the lamp pins inserted in these reception hardware portions 4a, 4b and are provided by a pair on the front face 2a side and the rear face 2b side, an installation portion 11 which is arranged on the bottom face 2e side of the outer shell portion 2 and is installed on the top plate of the lighting apparatus, and a connection part for feeding power to the contact members 6, 7, 8, 9, arranged on the upper face side of the outer shell portion 2 in the vicinity of this installation portion 11.
