Carrier paper (1) is fed to a lower end of printing rollers (3-5). Printing heads (6-8) on an ink-jet printer are aligned radially onto the upper end of each printing roller. The printing heads fire drops (10-12) of ink at the printing rollers at a speed of e.g. 6 milliseconds. The printing heads contain printing inks in basic colors like yellow, cyan or magenta so that the printing rollers are coated with drops of yellow, cyan or magenta ink, which are transferred from the printing rollers onto the carrier paper. An independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out the method of the present invention.
