PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain satisfactory focusing accuracy, and to reduce power consumption in finder operation. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has an AF evaluation value calculation means and an image signal processing means. In this case, a pixel signal outputted from an imaging device is supplied to the AF evaluation value calculation means as it is, and the pixel signal after thin-out processing is supplied to the image signal processing means.
