A needle of a sewing machine is provided to prevent unloosing of needle thread, and to stabilize a thread route by arranging a long groove guiding the needle thread to a needle hole. A needle of a sewing machine includes the followings: a blade(1) having a needle point which is formed on an end of the blade; a pinhole(3) which is formed around the needle point; a long groove(2) formed from an upper part of the blade to the pin hole to guide needle thread of the needle thread(T), and located on a front side of the blade. A part of the long groove is declined with the same angle of a twisting part of the needle thread on a needle axis central line. A main part of the long groove and the pin hole are connected each other through a declined part.
