[Also in Groups XXV, XXVII, XXVIII and XXXV] An engine accessory 80, which may be a cylinder, starter, generator, fuel pump, vacuum pump, carburetter, governor, power take-off means or a cabin supercharger (see Groups XXVII, XXVIII and XXXV), and a member 12 attached to an engine 16 have circumferentially-spaced axially-projecting teeth 22, 24, which may be. wedgelike or parallel-sided, that are provided with transverse channels 34, 36 which, when the teeth are intermeshed, form an annular groove 38 in which is located clamping means, such as a resilient split ring 44 (see Group XXV), to lock the member and accessory together. The ring and channels 36 may have co-operating sloping sides so that the member and accessory are urged into tighter engagement under vibration. Shoulders 76 may be formed on the ends of teeth 22 to prevent withdrawal of the ring from member 12; alternatively, a shoulder 79 may be provided on the accessory. A ring sprung into an internal groove may be used. |
