A low-profile cable 100 including a body 102 having upper and lower portions (126, 128, figure 2) that extend a length of the body and also having opposite sidewalls (130, 132, figure 2) joining the upper and lower portions to one another. The cable 100 also includes passages 120-123 that are located between the sidewalls (130, 132, figure 2). The passages 120-123 extend the length of the body 102 and are configured to receive at least one twisted pair of conductors 110-113. Also, the cable 100 includes a load-bearing structural section (134-136, figure 2) that spans between the upper and lower portions (126, 128, figure 2). The structural section (134-136, figure 2) includes opposing wall supports separated by a pocket channel (138, figure 2) therebetween. The structural section (134-136, figure 2) is configured to support the upper and lower portions (126, 128, figure 2) and substantially resist deformation of the passages 120-123 when external forces are induced onto at least one of the upper and lower portions (126, 128, figure 2). |
