A method for processing a packet steam in an IPTV is provided to store a packet stream of corresponding contents in a buffer during user authentication for the use of contents in an IPTV service, thereby shortening packet stream buffering time. Specific contents are requested to a media server(S1). A user authentication window is displayed(S3). A characteristic password is inputted from a user(S4). The input password is transmitted to an authentication server. An authentication result is received from the authentication server. A packet stream of the contents is received from the media server. The received packet stream is stored in a buffer. When authentication is succeeded, the packet stream stored in the buffer is outputted(S8). |
