An image processing apparatus is provided to improve a method of halftone-compensating image data to prevent halftone noise, thereby improving picture quality. An error level selector(500) selects an error level of inputted image data. An error level distributor(510) distributes an error level that the error level selector selects. The error coefficient distributor(520) distributes an error coefficient correspondingly to the error level that the error level distributor distributes. The error coefficient distributor selects one of the first error coefficient, the second error coefficient lower than the first error coefficient or the third error coefficient higher than the first error coefficient.
