METHOD OF OPERATING ATOMIC POWER STATION WITH WATER-TO-WATER NUCLEAR POWER REACTOR

FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and can be used in operating atomic power stations with water-to-water reactors with a prolonged fuel cycle. The method of operating the said atomic power station involves filling reactor cores with moderating medium from a mixture of heavy water (D2O) and light water with addition of boric acid, putting displacement pistons into the reactor cores, subsequent gradual removal of the displacement pistons and blowing the reactor cores with water for smooth reduction of content of heavy water in the moderating medium. Blowing the reactor cores begins with light water. The reactor with moderating medium with the lowest concentration of heavy water is blown first until D2O is almost removed from the moderating medium. Part of the blow-off water is channeled to a buffer tank. The other part is used for blowing the core of the second reactor with concentration of heavy water in the moderating medium a little higher than in the first. Blowing is continued until concentration in the second reactor is closer to concentration in the first reactor. Part of the blow-off water is channeled to the buffer tank of the second reactor. The other part is channeled for blowing the core of the next reactor and so on. The reactor core with the highest concentration is blown last. After blowing the last reactor, the blow-off water is enriched to the initial concentration in the first reactor and is then used as a moderating medium for the reactor core with zero concentration. Blow-off water from buffer tanks is enriched through electrolysis and is used as moderating medium in the future. ^ EFFECT: invention allows for reducing use of light water and expenses on obtaining heavy water. ^ 1 dwg
