The device has a rearview mirror comprising a fixation foot (40) towards rear end, where the foot is clipped on a base (50). An axial rod (2) supports a yoke i.e. square tube (22), at one end and a handle at another end. The yoke is located in an extension of the rod that receives the foot of the mirror, and a transversal groove is formed at a square tube end. The square tube is aligned following an axis of the rod of the tool, and another transversal groove is centered and formed perpendicular to the former transversal groove. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a rearview mirror on a base that is preliminarily fixed in top of a windscreen of a motor vehicle.
