A light emitting diode using phosphor is provided to show color rendering index higher than the case of manufacturing the white light-emitting diode by using Eu(2+)-doped silicate phosphor. A light emitting diode comprises a light emitting diode chip(113) having the main peak wavelength of 400-470 nm and a phosphor(117) excited by the light coming from the light emitting diode chip. The phosphor Ce^(3+)-doped calcium silicate-based phosphor represented by the chemical formula 1: (Ca_(1-y)M_y)_(2-x-z)SiO_4:Ce^(3+)_x,N^+_z. In the chemical formula 1, x is in the range of 0 < x <= 0.5; y is in the range of 0 <= y <= 0.5; M is at least one selected from Mg, Ca and Ba; z is in the range of 0 < z <= 0; and N is at least one selected from Li, Na, K, and Rb. |
