PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress contact of a solid ink stick with a feed channel in the feed channel. SOLUTION: In a system for transporting the solid ink stick whose body is formed to be meltable inside the feed channel of a solid ink printer, a feed drive 40 provided in the feed channel or a portion of the feed channel is motorized, while a drive coupler 14 is provided on the solid ink body so as to be at a position offset from a surface of the solid ink body, and further a recessed part complementary for the drive 40 is provided on the coupler 14 so as to energize the coupler 14 along the feed channel. When the drive 40 is a lead screw with a screw-thread 44, the recessed part may be skewed at an angle in accordance with a screw-thread pitch in the lead screw, and when it is an endless belt, the cross section of the recessed part may be formed to shape complementary for the cross section of the endless belt.
