A catapult, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, includes a shank F which increases the distance available for extending the elastic members. The shank is shaped at its rear end into a grip G and is jointed by a member E to the fork A of which the arms have sighting notches. Further embodiments, Figs. 6, 8, 17 (not shown), are adapted for use in the manner of a rifle. The fork in this type is deeper and has sighting notches marked off in ranges. An anchor or peg provides steadying means for the hand which draws back the missile ejector and the butt may be integral with the shank or an attached one of metal or plastic, Fig. 19 (not shown).
