PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intestine trefoil factor and a nucleic acid encoding the intestine trefoil factor, for treating or inhibiting lesion formations. SOLUTION: The intestine trefoil factor (ITF) has resistance to destruction of a digestive tract, and is a medicinal composition applicable to treatment for peptic ulcer disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, and other insults. A trefoil polypeptide is a polypeptide further containing a marker. A method for detecting an ITF receptor includes a step of bringing a tissue into contact with the trefoil polypeptide marked with a detectable label, and a step of determining the level of the trefoil polypeptide marked with the detectable label and bonded with the tissue.
