PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inspecting an optical pickup, for easily determining quality within a short period of time. SOLUTION: An imaging device M is disposed in a first position s1 farther than the focal position s0 of an objective lens 1D, a second position s2 nearer than the focal position s0 of the objective lens, and a third position s3 farther than the first position s1 to measure spot diameters sp0 to sp2 formed in the image sensor M at the positions s1 to s3.
