PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure prevention of the buckling of an elevating rod such as a spindle or a rack in an opening/closing machine for a water gate. SOLUTION: Lateral support bodies 9, which are externally fitted to the lateral elevating rods 6 of door body 1 relatively moved in the vertical direction and elevated along the guide portion 3 of gate poles 2, are integrally connected with a connection member 12. A mount 10 to secure the support bodies 9 at a prescribed height is set to the lateral gate poles 2, bringing the distance closer between the support bodies 9 and the bottom end of the elevating rods 6 when the lower side of the door body 1 reaches the bottom.
