<p>A casting material based on silicon carbide is provided which is excellent in corrosion resistance and applicability. The casting material based on silicon carbide is characterized by comprising a refractory powder including 60-95 wt.% silicon carbide and a kaolinic clay added thereto in an amount of 0.1-2.5 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the refractory powder.</p>
