PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new microporation device with a membrane tissue interface.

SOLUTION: This invention concerns the transportation of substances across the biological membrane of an animal (e.g., a human). An improved device 1 and its methods are provided for the formation of an opening in or the increase of flux through the biological membrane of an animal in order to deliver a substance into the animal body through its biological membrane for medical treatment, or extract a substance from it for monitoring or other diagnostic purposes.
