PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus provided with a function for consolidating document information such as order information received through various routes and guaranteeing that each document information is processed surely in the receiving order. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image reading means, a communication interface capable of communicating with a telephone public line or the Internet, a storage means for storing a database of document information of a predetermined format, a first registration means for extracting document information of the predetermined format from received data and registering the extracted information in the database, and a second registration means for registering information based on image data generated by the image reading means in the database as document information of the predetermined format. When, during the registration of data in the database by either one of the first and the second registration means, one registration means starts registration in the database, the other registration means suspends the registration until the one registration means completes registration.
