PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce soot, CO, HC exhaust and increase the exhaust gas temperature to promote the early warming-up of a catalyst by accelerating the combustion of unburned and imperfect combustion components during an exhaust stroke in a direct injection type spark-ignition internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A gas injection valve is provided inside an exhaust port to inject a gas containing oxygen into the unburned and imperfect combustion components. A partition wall is provided for partitioning a flow path of the exhaust port into two paths. The gas injection valve is arranged in one of the partitioned flow paths, while a control valve for performing control of allowing and blocking an exhaust flow is provided in the other of the partitioned flow paths.
