PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a ply for a tire which produces the ply for one portion corresponding to the size of the tire while laying the parts between the side edge parts of a tape piece to overlap each other in turn and a production method. SOLUTION: An adhesive belt conveyer 7 is used to lay the side edge parts of the tape piece 4 conveyed in the length direction to a delivery position P1 to overlap each other and bonded together in turn. The adhesive belt conveyer 7 passes above the delivery position P1, extends in the transfer direction Fy, and has an adhesive belt 14 which can hold the tape piece 4 on a lower surface. The transverse movement step for transversely moving the tape piece held previously on the adhesive belt 14 in the transfer direction Fy to an overlap position P2 and the joining/receiving step in which the side edge part of the tape piece held previously by the fall and rise of the adhesive belt 14 is pushed onto the side edge part 4E2 of the tape piece at the delivery position P1 and joined, and the joined tape piece is held with the tape piece held previously on the adhesive belt 14 and received are carried out alternately.
