PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a tungsten oxide photocatalyst capable of exhibiting high photocatalytic activity due to the visible light contained largely in the light of a practical light source such as a fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: The method for producing the tungsten oxide photocatalyst is characterized in that metatungstic acid or its salt is fired at 480-850°C, and then the obtained tungsten oxide is washed.
