PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article of footwear, such as a sandal or shoe, which uses no middle sole at all, has excellent suppleness and impairs no flexibility of each component of the article of footwear, and which is congenial to a wearer and lightweight when worn, and also to provide a manufacturing method of the same. SOLUTION: A top sole 3 includes an elastic material such as thermoplastic elastomer and synthetic rubber is a divided top sole joint structure comprising an upper sole 3a and a lower sole 3b. The upper sole includes an elastic sheet 5 formed on the upper face and has the reverse side of the upper sole which has a flexible upper sole joining face that joins with the upper face of the lower sole. The lower sole includes the upper face including a flexible lower sole joining face that joins with the upper sole joining face, wherein block shaped projecting parts are formed with spaces apart along the width direction of the foot, longitudinally in a part corresponding to the front sole of the foot on the reverse side of the lower sole, and wherein a heel part is integrally formed extending to a part corresponding to the arch of the foot on the reverse side of the lower sole.
