The collar (1) has lower and upper ends (11, 12) and outer and inner walls (14, 15) designed to be in clamping contact around a ring. The inner wall at the lower end forms a catching profile that projects inwards, where the profile defines a sharp ridge that extends inwards and upwards. The profile is directly formed near the lower end of the collar. The internal wall forms a wall section that defines an assembly with an external side and a groove in which a base is formed by a junction of the external side and the wall section. An independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing an outer collar.
