The method involves operating an automatically movable suction and reverse cleaning device (1) by a commercial power supply in an independent manner. The cleaning device is connected with a secondary device or the commercial power supply for dust evacuation and/or charging of a battery. A radiation unit is activated depending upon the connection of the cleaning device with the secondary device or the commercial power supply. The cleaning device has a dust locating chamber and sterilization of the dust locating chamber is executed by the radiation unit. An independent claim is also included for a suction and sweep cleaning device.
