<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial medium which can be manufactured at a low cost and can be small-sized. <P>SOLUTION: In the artificial medium, two or more conducting planes each having a two-dimensional periodic array of conductive elements are disposed in a thickness direction.
