<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver assisting channel designation so that a user can designate a desired channel, thereby reducing erroneous designation of a channel. <P>SOLUTION: When a first number key 201 is depressed, a control section 2 causes a display section 9 to display the number of the key. The control section 2 extracts all the sequences of numbers including the first number at the head and channel names corresponding thereto from a channel list 14A (as shown in Fig.5(A)), and displays on the display section 9 as a channel candidate. When a number "2" as a second number is designated, a sequence of number including "12" at the head and a channel name corresponding thereto are extracted from the channel list 14A, and are displayed on the display area 9B (as shown in Fig.5(B)). The user recognizes the channel candidate to determine the currently displayed a number "12" using a determination key 202.
