PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus, capable of extending the life of a fixing member without causing offset. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes an electrostatic latent image forming step, a developing step, a transfer step, and a fixing step, in which the fixing step is a process for fixing a transfer image transferred onto a transfer object by using a fixing member having a surface layer in which an abrasion resisting additive having a volume average particle size of 1μm or less is dispersed, and a pressurizing member, and the toner has a tanδpeak in the range of from 40°C to 70°C in measurement of dynamic viscoelasticity temperature dependency, the value of the peak being less than 2.0. The image forming apparatus includes a latent image holding body, an electrostatic latent image forming means, a developing means, a transfer means and a fixing means, in which the fixing means includes a fixing member having a surface layer in which an abrasion resisting additive having a volume average particle size of 1μm or less is dispersed and a pressurizing member, and the toner has a tanδpeak in the range of from 40°C to 70°C in dynamic viscoelasticity temperature dependency measurement, the value of the peak being less than 2.0.
