<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device which can improve reliability with simple assembly/disassembly work and without damaging outer member strength. <P>SOLUTION: The wheel bearing device is characterized in that an annular retaining ring groove 18 is formed in an axial rough center section of periphery of an outer ring 12; an annular retaining ring groove 19 is formed in an inner periphery of a knuckle 2 corresponding to this retaining ring groove 18; a retaining ring 20 with ends which is rectangular and profiled in ring in cross section is attached to the retaining ring groove 18 of the outer ring 12; this retaining ring 20 is formed by a press process from steel plate; and a plurality of hooks 20b projected in a radial outer direction is formed in a circumferential direction by a cutting-up/picking-up process, and engaged with the retaining ring groove 19 of the knuckle 2. Therefore, the knuckle 2 or the outer ring 12 is not damaged at the time of disassembly, and the reliability is improved by recycling and simple assembly/disassembly working, furthermore without damaging a strength of the outer ring 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
