PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide type wavelength dispersion compensation device which is made compact, has an excellent dispersion compensation characteristic and is easily manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide type wavelength dispersion compensation device has an optical waveguide as a reflection type wavelength dispersion compensation means in which the equivalent refractive index of a core imbedded in a clad inhomogeneously varies over a light propagation direction, wherein the optical waveguide has a plurality of channels of dispersion-compensation wavelength regions and a dispersion-compensation characteristic in which the dispersion is compensated in the wavelength region of the respective channels.
