PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the efficiency of input/output operations from an image forming apparatus to memory media. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with: a scanner means for reading an original; a storage means for storing read original information; an interface to which the memory media are connected to access the memory media; a means for transferring the original information stored in the storage means to the memory media as image information; a means for calculating a transfer data amount and the remaining capacity of the memory media; a means for comparing the transfer data amount with the remaining capacity of the memory media; a means for transferring substance data to the memory media as it is when the remaining capacity of the memory data is larger than the transfer data amount as a result of comparison by a comparison means; and a means for transferring storage destination information in which the substance data is stored to the memory media when the remaining capacity of the memory media is smaller than the transfer data amount as the result of comparison by the comparison means.
