PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lead-acid storage battery for contributing to improvement of a cycle life performance. SOLUTION: In the lead-acid storage battery, elution of calcium is prevented by using a positive electrode active material raw material having lead containing calcium or its compound and zinc or its compound for a positive electrode plate as the main component, and since equipped with an electrolytic solution containing at least one of this calcium ion or magnesium ion, its effect is enhanced. In the positive electrode material raw material, calcium of 0.1 wt.% or more and 1.20 wt.% or less and zinc of 0.10 wt.% or more and 2.00 wt.% or less are contained, and in the electrolytic solution, the calcium ion or the magnesium ion of 0.10 g or more and 10.00 g or less per liter are contained.
