PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel oil composition for premixed charge compression ignition engines, which can expand the range of load conditions for securing PCCI combustion to ranges incapable of being achieved with conventional fuels, such as gasoline or gas oil, for automobiles. SOLUTION: The fuel oil composition for the premixed charge compression ignition engines is characterized by having a sulfur content of≤10 mass ppm, a 90 vol% distillation temperature of≤330°C, a cetane number (CN) of≥40, a research method octane number (RON) of≥20, and the sum (CN+RON) of the cetane number and the research method octane number of≥70.
