<p>A carbide chip (20) of cemented carbide material has an edge part (21) and a support part (22). In the process for production of a carbide chip, an edge part intermediate being a preliminary sintered body for the edge part (21) and a support part intermediate being a principal sintered body for the support part (22) are separately produced. Principal sintering is carried out in the situation that the distal end portion of the support part intermediate is inserted in an insert hole of the edge part intermediate. In the principal sintering, cobalt grains as a raw material powder are converted to a liquid phase, thereby effecting sintering/shrinkage. As the support part intermediate have undergone principal sintering, only the edge part intermediate shrinks. Consequently, the distal end portion of the support part intermediate is constricted by the edge part intermediate. Further, sintering of cobalt grains also occurs at the boundary area between the edge part intermediate and the support part intermediate. Therefore, there can be obtained a carbide chip (20) wherein the edge part (21) and the support part (22) are strongly bonded together.</p> |
