<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which does not cause the leakage of light which occurs to the peripheral part of a screen when black is displayed, because of variations in temperature and humidity and continuous lighting in the liquid crystal display device itself, prevents a polarizing plate from being exfoliated, and is excellent in durability. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a polarizing plate (PL) including at least a polarizer (20) and a phase difference film (F); and a liquid crystal cell (LC) including at least a glass substrate (12), wherein the polarizer (PL) is bonded to the surface of the glass substrate (12) with an adhesive layer (14). In this case, the phase difference film (F) is arranged between the polarizer (20) and the adhesive layer (14). Further, the product of the photoelastic coefficient and thickness of the adhesive layer (14) is -2.0×10<SP>-5</SP>to -8.5×10<SP>-5</SP>nm/Pa, the product of the photoelastic coefficient and thickness of the glass substrate (12) is 0.14×10<SP>-5</SP>to 0.28×10<SP>-5</SP>nm/Pa, and the product of the photoelastic coefficient and thickness of the phase difference film (F) is -0.05×10<SP>-5</SP>to +0.05×10<SP>-5</SP>nm/Pa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
