PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device for performing route display, map display, and other display adapted to variation in moving speed. SOLUTION: This navigation device 0 comprises a display section 6, a map displaying means for displaying a map on the display section 6, a contraction scale setting means for setting the contraction scale of the map displayed on the display section 6, a positional information acquiring means 8 for sequentially acquiring the positional information showing the own position at a predetermined frequency, a display point selecting means for selecting a display point suitable for the display according to the contraction scale set from the time series of the sequentially acquired position, and a route displaying means for displaying the own moving route by plotting the selected display point on the displayed map. The contraction scale setting means determines the own moving speed based on the sequentially acquired positional information, and sets the contraction scale in response to the moving speed.
