PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a reception device capable of reserving video recording to record an HD broadcast more securely with high picture quality when programs having the same contents are broadcast with the HD broadcast and an SD broadcast. SOLUTION: When a user specifies a video-recording reservation indicated program using an electronic program guide, a control unit discriminates whether the program is an SD broadcast or HD broadcast (S11) with a component descriptor of a broadcast of the program. When the video-recording reservation indicated program is the SD broadcast (S11: NO), it is confirmed whether an HD broadcast having program constitution of the same contents with the SD broadcast is present or not and when the HD broadcast is present (S12: YES), the effect is displayed in an on-screen manner (S13). When the user performs a predetermined operation (S14: YES), video recording of the program to be broadcast by the HD broadcast and having the same contents with the video-recording reservation indicated program is reserved (S15). When the video-recording reservation indicated program is the HD broadcast (S11: YES), video recording of the video-recording reservation indicated program of the HD broadcast is reserved (S21).
