PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce sliding loss and improve a performance of a hermetic compressor by reducing a sliding area of a shaft and a lower bearing end plate in a hermetic compressor without reducing the rigidity of the shaft. SOLUTION: In the efficient hermetic compressor, a circular groove having a diameter larger than the inside diameter of the lower bearing end plate 10 is formed in the inside diameter of the lower bering end plate 10, thereby reducing the sliding loss and reducing the sliding area of the shaft 6 and the lower bearing end plate 10 while maintaining the rigidity of the shaft 6.
