PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a time period in which error correction cannot be performed to correct errors caused by XPM supplied from a channel using an intensity modulation scheme such as the RZ-OOK scheme to a channel using a phase modulation scheme such as the RZ-DPSK scheme even in an environment in which an error rate is varied extremely slowly.
SOLUTION: The wavelength multiplexing transmission system in which the channel whose modulation format is intensity modulation and the channel whose modulation format is phase modulation coexist includes a polarization scrambler inserted into a signal path of either one of the two channels, and a drive unit configured to drive the polarization scrambler at a repetitive frequency greater than or equal to (bit rate of phase modulated signal)/(error correction frame length)×2.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
