PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice mail device which can start recording or reproduction of a voice message under optimal state by a simple procedure, and thereby ensuring high voice quality and high serviceability. SOLUTION: When a voice message from an arbitrary mail box of a storage section 19 is reproduced in a voice mail circuit 15, a part of the voice message is input as a voice file for learning AGC to a DSP 20 where the signal level of a voice file for learning is controlled to a specified level, muting of a voice is performed in the voice mail circuit 15 for a source extension terminal DKT1, and after elapsing a predetermined time, a voice message reproduced from an arbitrary mail box is input from the start to the DSP 20 and processed under a state where processing gain of the DSP 20 is maintained.
