PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular recording head suppressing a magnetic field leaked to an adjacent recording track during recording to increase a density in a track width direction. SOLUTION: The perpendicular recording head constituted of a main magnetic pole and an auxiliary magnetic pole includes a leading side shield arranged to separate a magnetic body from the main magnetic pole by a certain distance and retreat the height position of the magnetic body from the storage medium facing surface of the main magnetic pole in a track width direction from the leading side of the main magnetic pole when viewed from the storage medium facing surface.
