<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article capable preventing wetness between a barrier sheet and a skin and capable of suppressing rashes or others of the skin of a wearer from occurring. <P>SOLUTION: A diaper 1 includes a liquid absorbing chassis 2, a barrier sheet 3, and a leak preventing cuffs 4. The barrier sheet 3 has both side portions 30, 31 facing in a lateral direction X and an intermediate portion 32 connecting the both side portions 30, 31, and the intermediate portion 32 is located in a crotch region 9. Front and rear communicating portions 33, 34 are formed by both the side portions 30, 31 and the intermediate portion 32. Cutting out portions 41 are formed in both the side portions 30, 31 located in the outer sides in the lateral direction X of the intermediate portion 32.
