<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent an occupant in a vehicle from dropping outside a vehicle interior through a vehicle door opened unexpectedly. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicle door opening and closing device 1 is provided with sensor electrodes 11-13 arranged in parallel in the direction of height of the vehicle door 2, electrostatic capacity detection circuits 21-23, a determining circuit 30 for determining the presence or absence of a human body near the vehicle door 2 based on detection signals, and a door ECU 33 for controlling opening and closing operation of the vehicle door 2 based on the results of determination. The door ECU 33 locks the door to prevent the vehicle door 2 from being opened irrespective of the instructions for door opening and closing operation from each door SW 32 when the determining circuit 30 determines that there is a human body near the vehicle door 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
