<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend life while suppressing cost increase in a hard disk device in which video recording data is recorded real-time. <P>SOLUTION: A video recording device 1 includes a hard disk drive (HDD) 16 and semiconductor memories 17, 18. The operation mode of the video recording device 1 is alternately changed over between a first operation mode and a second operation mode, and the video recording data 9 as the first video recording data 90 is live-recorded in the semiconductor memory 17 in the first operation mode, and the video recording data 9 as the second recording data 91 is live-recorded in the semiconductor memory 18 in the second operation mode. Immediately before the second operation mode changes to the first operation mode, the first video recording data 90 is copied to the HDD 16, and immediately after the mode changes to the first operation mode, the second video recording data 91 is copied to the hard disk drive 16.
