WIND TURBINE MOUNTED ON A PITCHED ROOF WITH A TRUNCATED REGION

A pitched roof structure of generally truncated form defines a truncated region extending between opposing inclined roof surfaces. A wind turbine is supported by a stanchion at said truncated region. The wind turbine includes a propeller type horizontal axis rotor. The roof structure defines an effective crown, namely a projected point of intersection of the opposing inclined roof surfaces. At least a lower part of the rotor extends below the effective crown. The truncated region may be continuous along the length of the pitched roof structure. The truncated region may supports or be formed from solar cells extending over the whole or part of the truncated region, to generate additional electrical energy from sunlight.
