A desulfurization method for lean NOX trap catalyst is provided to prevent degradation of fuel efficiency of a vehicle because the desulfurization of lean NOX trap catalyst is terminated with regeneration completion of a diesel particulate filter at the same time. A desulfurization method for lean NOX trap catalyst comprises a step(S12) for determining whether desulfurization of lean NOX trap catalyst is in operation performs when a diesel particulate filter is in reproduction; a step(S14) for presuming the time when the desulfurization of lean NOX trap catalyst is terminated and the time when the diesel particulate filter terminates the regeneration when desulfurization of lean NOX trap catalyst is in operation; a step(S16) for determining whether the time when the diesel particulate filter is terminated is faster than desulfurization stop time of lean NOX trap catalyst; and a step(S20) for controlling desulfurization of lean NO X trap catalyst so that the desulfurization stop time of lean NOX trap catalyst is faster than the time when thee diesel particulate filter is terminated.
