<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protein for vaccines inhibiting the urease activity of Helicobacter pylori in combination with the function of inhibiting the proliferation of the bacteria, to provide a gene encoding the protein, and to provide respective methods for using the protein and the gene. <P>SOLUTION: The protein comprises a sequence in a specific domain among amino acid sequences near the active site in the urease of Helicobacter pylori.
