An image display method of television for watching an image on a screen in 16 to 9 ratio mode without a letter box is provided to view an image on a big screen without the letter box by omitting the indication of the letter box. It determines whether the displayed image is an 4 to 3 ratio image by inserting a letter box according to 16 to 9 ratio(S11). If a mode indicating the converted image by 4:3 ratio is 16:9 ratio mode, an image which is expanded to up down left right' is indicated(S12, S14). If the mode indicating the converted image by 4:3 ratio is 4:3 ratio mode, the image in which the letter box is inserted into right and left is indicated(S13). An original image is indicated on a full screen without the letter box. |
